Mira
Mesa's Beach Games |
From:
Kurt L
To: Lunchbee Ultimate group
Yes, it's summertime, which means ... lunchbee
Ultimate at the beach!
For the uninitiated, here's the scoop:
During the summer, the Mira Mesa lunch-time pickup game selects three or four Tuesdays and/or Thursdays that have a low tide around noon, and we MOVE the game from Mira Mesa to Torrey Pines State
Beach, where we play Ultimate
along the waterline, in the sand and surf. It's a lot of fun!
Afterwards, many of us stick around to do some
body-surfing, and then we visit the nearby Alberto's for a late lunch. (If you have to leave right after the game though, we'll understand.)
[See website for] dates of this year's beach games. All games start at 12:30; please
be on time!
Even if you can't make it to the beach, mark your calendar, because there is NO game in Mira Mesa on these days.
Directions (see map below): from I-5, take Carmel Valley Rd. west. Go left (at the light) on McGonigle Rd, which takes you into the parking lot. Walk past the bathrooms and showers, under the bridge, turn right and go up the beach about
1/4 mile to the north. We usually play just beyond the last lifeguard stand.
Cleats are not needed. Bare feet are the norm, although some people choose to play in old sneakers or sand shoes.
It costs $8 to park in the lot during the summer.
To avoid the fee, most of us park on Carmel Valley Rd.,
near the entrance to the lot.
See you there!
Kurt
